Millview Resource Centre - Newry (SHSCT)

The SHSCT has 15 directly managed Day Care Centres for adults with physical and/or learning and/or sensory disabilities within the Armagh/Dungannon, Craigavon/Banbridge and Newry and Mourne localities. Day Care is provided to service users who have been assessed as having complex care and/or behavioural needs. Day Care services are regulated by the Regulation Quality and Improvement Authority (RQIA) who monitor the quality of service provision through announced and unannounced inspections on a regular basis. he Physical Disability and Sensory Impairment Division provides day care for adults with a physical disability, sensory impairment or brain injury for the purpose of rehabilitation, maintenance and/or respite. The day care model uses a partnership approach with other Trust departments and agencies which enable service users to access a wide range of opportunities geared towards maximising personal development and improving their quality of life. Accessing the service Users of the service must: be resident in the Southern Trust area (live in the Armagh, Banbridge, Craigavon, Dungannon and South Tyrone, or Newry and Mourne Council area) be aged between 18 and 64 years Have a physical disability or sensory impairment of a substantive and long lasting nature, as defined within the Disability Discrimination Act (1995) meet the criteria for admission to day care, following assessment of need Referral is through the social worker who completes the referral form and appropriate risk assessments in conjunction with the user and other healthcare staff.
