Belfast Adult Autism Advice Service - Cedar Foundation/Belfast Trust

The adult autism service provides:

• assessment and diagnosis
• short-term support for adults diagnosed through the service
• support for young people who have recently received a diagnosis of autism in child services and are now 18 years old
• consultation with Belfast Trust staff who work with adults who have autism

We also provide the Belfast Adult Autism Advice Service (BAAAS) in partnership with the Cedar Foundation. The BAAAS is an information hub where people aged 16 and over with autism and their carers can get advice.

BAAAS is supported by staff from different organisations and teams:

• Cedar Foundation
• Department for Communities
• Department for the Economy Careers Service
• Northern Ireland Housing Executive
• Belfast Metropolitan College

Who provides the service

Our team is called the Adult Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Diagnostic Team. The team includes health professionals from a range of disciplines:

• psychology
• occupational therapy
• social work

How to access the service

If you think you may have autism and are aged 18 or over, speak to your GP or a healthcare professional from Belfast Trust who supports you. They will send a referral to the service.

Our team will discuss the referral and, if appropriate, you will be placed on a waiting list. You will receive a letter when the assessment process is ready to begin.

If you have an intellectual disability, the referral may be forwarded to a different service if appropriate.
