Youth Empowerment Network (formally Youth Start Programme)
As we’ve grown, our focus has expanded beyond simply starting young people on their path. We are now a vibrant, inclusive network supporting and empowering young people to lead, inspire, and create meaningful change.
What’s New—and What Remains the Same:
- Same heart, expanded vision: We continue to believe in the boundless potential of young people. Our new name better captures our collaborative and empowerment-oriented approach.
- Programmes offered: As part of our wraparound support, we currently run two programmes:
YouthStart (Employability Programme – ages 16–24)
- Structure: 20 weeks, 2 days per week. New groups start monthly in Belfast and Newtownards.
- Incentives: £10 per day attendance payment, 1:1 mentoring throughout, and outdoor activities (travel costs not reimbursed).
- Programme Phases: Personal & Social Development, Qualifications, and Employment Academy.
- Qualifications: Level 1 Essential Skills ICT, Level 1 Award in Managing Personal Finance, and Level 1 Award in Employability Skills.
CyberQuest (Cyber Security Programme – ages 16–25)
- Structure: 20 weeks, 2.5 days per week, with 2 mentors per group.
- Focus: Developing ICT skills, career pathways insight, leadership, and real-world learning experiences.
- Qualifications: International Computer Driving Licence, ILM Level 2 Young Leaders, Level 1 Peer Mentoring, and Cyber Security Awareness.
