The Share the Care team is a trust wide multi-disciplinary team supporting and recruiting Adult Placement Carers who provide both permanent and short break placements for adults with a learning disability. No special qualifications are necessary as training is provided. We are looking for people who are caring and have patience, commitment and understanding, and can offer friendship on a regular or permanent basis, or who can spare a few hours to give a family carer a break to recharge their batteries. Short break adult placement carers are regarded as self-employed and paid expenses for their time and travel and can take adults with a learning disability out to do an activity, cinema, coffee, gym, etc. or spend time with them at their home, baking, watching movies etc. or just chilling. If they have a spare bedroom they can be an overnight short break carer. Short breaks can range from one night to several nights and the person will stay overnight in the carers home, taking part in day-to-day family activities in a home-from-home environment.
Long term adult placement carers provide longer term care in the carer`s own home to an adult with a learning disability. We know that this is a big commitment to make and is not for everyone. We work hard to match and support carers to the person who is coming to live in their home so that they can meet the needs of the person placed with them, and both carer and the service users placed are happy.
AP carers who provide a permanent placement are given a weekly payment, (paid monthly)
