Cedar delivers a range of services that enable people with disabilities to get the most out of life and to be fully included in their communities. Our services are centred around the individual needs of each person and are delivered throughout Northern Ireland.

Transitions supports young people progressing to college

Cedar provides a regional Transition Service that fully involves young people and their families to make decisions about their life after school. This holistic service is aimed at improving a young person’s transition readiness. Recent programmes, training and financial advice workshops have been supporting young people and families with their upcoming plans.

Inclusion Works aims to create and support opportunities for people with disabilities to develop the skills to engage independently in the community and to enhance their health and wellbeing by the delivery/ sourcing of: ·

  • Disability specific training e.g. Personal Effectiveness following Brain Injury, Understanding my Neurodiversity ASD
  • Community-based volunteering, training and social inclusion activity that can be sustained long-term
  • Basis Skills, Life Skills and Personal Development
  • Brain injury specialist rehabilitation in partnership with the Trusts’ Community Brain Injury Teams

Inclusion Works is funded by all five local HSCTs in Northern Ireland.

Workable (NI)

Supported Employment Services (SES)

We work closely with employers to identify job opportunities and provide on-going advice and practical assistance to ensure the support needs of both you and your employer are met and that you can work independently.

As part of a partnership of disability organisations, called Supported Employment Solutions (SES), we deliver Workable (NI) which is designed to respond to individual needs and to allow for different types of employment and support.

What is Workable (NI)?

Workable (NI) is available across Northern Ireland and is designed to help you in employment and can help if you are at risk of losing your job as a result of disability or a health condition. You can access the Workable (NI) programme if you wish to work, or are working more than 10 hours per week. Workable (NI) is available to you if you're aged over 16 with a disability or other health conditions and you want to progress into or stay in employment.

How to get involved : To access the Workable (NI) programme you can contact us directly yourself or get in touch via your Jobs and Benefits office, Social Worker, Health Care Professional, Training Provider, Family or Carer. SkillSET SkillSET is a new innovative programme of specialist employment preparation and training, for people with a disability / health condition who are economically inactive. Cedar is delivering the service across NI as part of a partnership of seven disability organisations,

SkillSET Cedar aims to enhance the life chances of economically inactive disabled people by delivering specialised pre-employment training, on the job mentoring and the creation of sustainable employment opportunities via:

  • Accredited and non-accredited training (vocational, employability, personal development
  • Basic skills and numeracy development
  • Academy based training models
  • Employment preparation including work experience , CV preparation, interview prep and 1:1 peer mentoring
  • Employer engagement and the establishment of employer led academies and the delivery of disability awareness training
  • Supporting disabled people leaving Higher/Further (particularly those with ASD) to secure employment.

Employer Led

Cedar and the Mid Ulster Labour Market Partnership is seeking to engage a range of employers in an Employer-led Disability Inclusion Programme. This will improve companies’ understanding of disability, highlight the benefits of employing people with disabilities and support the companies to fill vacancies.
