Woodlands Centre is situated in north Belfast and provides day support for service users who have significant physical and sensory disabilities and are between the ages of 18 years and 64 years. We are committed to providing a high quality service to our service users by providing a therapeutic and stimulating environment which encourages and respects independence.
Activities
Our Day Care Workers provide a wide range of activities on a one to one and group basis. We offer wood therapy; furniture restoration, toy making, picture framing, gardening, basic computer skills, arts and crafts, needle work activities, aromatherapy massage, card and board games, quizzes, boccia, armchair aerobics, cookery – Cook It! sessions offered on a regular basis. Community outreach – ten pin bowling, pool, lunch outings, exhibitions, swimming. Activities are also provided from community based therapists: yoga, relaxation, jewellery group, art group, creative writing. Occupational Therapy helps people with disabilities (mental, physical or social) overcome the effects of their disability to live full lives and keep active for as long as possible. Speech and Language Therapy may be able to help with communication, eating, drinking and swallowing. Music Therapy – Trough the music making experience, service users have the freedom to express and share their feelings without words. It also gives service users the space and time to build meaningful relationships with others.
