Additional Information

Parents support Training for young people. English for employability . Alcohol and drug abuse support. The Belfast Unemployed Resource Centre was established to to provide support, education training and facilities to the unemployed and other groups living with social and economic disadvantage. Our activities include the provision of advice and representation through our welfare rights unit, and education, training and community development projects. We are very active in the area of peace and reconciliation and view the legacy of the conflict as the pervasive issue which retards progress on all other social and economic issues. We offer office space and room hire facilities to organisations and groups with similar or complimentary aims and objectives, with favourable rates for charitable and trades union organisations. In 2011 we completed a refurbishment of our building and can now offer a fully accessible facility, with training rooms and a computer suite, featuring interactive white boards, video conferencing facilities. We also offer a hotdesk facility for fledgling groups who are trying to establish themselves in the sector and need a base to work from, or just for those who need to meet in a mutually convenient venue, or locate themeselves in the centre of Belfast for a couple of hours a week, but who are not at the stage where they require a permanent base. We aim to be innovative in what we do, and drive this innovation through our project provision, addressing issues such as unemployment, employability, good relations, human rights, basic skills, peace and reconciliation, equality, social justice, the environment and others. We strive to offer learning and development opportunities, through enjoyable and sociable learning engagements, which result in definite actions and outcomes benefiting the individuals and communities represented. Partnership has been a cornerstone of our success.
