Ashton Community Trust – New Lodge Youth Centre provides a range of services for children and young people. The youth centre is opened as a drop-in facility Monday to Thursday for children aged 5 – 7 years and 8 – 11 years and over seven days a week for young people aged 11 – 17 years. Young people can participate in educational group work activities and various sports activities such as football, Gaelic sports, pool, basket ball, and table tennis. There is also a wide range of arts and crafts activities, cookery, digital fabrication and gardening. In addition young people aged 11+ can take part in programmes focused on health and well being, drug awareness, sexual health, active citizenship, leadership, community participation, community relations, understanding cultural diversity, international relations, volunteering, peer sports coaching, event management and developing facilitation skills. An extensive summer scheme delivered over seven weeks in July and August includes a range of in-centre and outdoor education activities as well as residential opportunities.
