Family Focus is a lottery funded project led by Guide Dogs NI, Children and Young Peoples Services in partnership with Angel Eyes NI and Sense NI. The project supports : Monthly 'Time to Play' groups across NI Habilitation assessment by specialists Family Support Chance to meet other families The project also aims to increase the understanding of the experience of parenting a child with sight loss. Information from families will help inform future services for children with sight loss. Make Time To Play Structured monthly Early Years Groups bring together babies and pre-school children with visual impairment in a fun environment that encourages early movement and learning through play. The groups give parents the opportunity to meet and share experiences, build skills and confidence and support them in maximizing their child's potential. The groups cater for all children aged 0-4 years with sight loss, with specific help available for children with complex needs. Home visits can be arranged for kids/families who attend the monthly playgroup, where developmental goals are identified and supported.
