Parkanaur College (Thomas Doran Trust) - Dungannon

Parkanaur College, Dungannon, is Northern Ireland's only residential college for young people with disabilities. Set in the midst of a beautiful forest park, the College offers students a range of accredited vocational and educational courses plus life-skills training and an extensive range of leisure activities. Parkanaur College is an independent specialist Further Education College for students aged 18+ with intellectual, physical and/or sensory disabilities We are the only specialist residential college in Northern Ireland and as such offer a unique experience for our students. We aim to provide students with the opportunity to achieve their potential educationally, vocationally and socially. All programmes are designed to be individual and developmental, focusing on transition to adulthood, enabling students to live a more independent life and where appropriate engage in further education, training or employment. The College currently has capacity for twenty four residential student placements. Spacious individual and shared rooms provide for comfortable and enjoyable living. In addition there are Common, Recreational and TV rooms. The students are appropriately supported by staff who offer guidance and encouragement in their personal social and academic development. Initial enquiries to the College can be made by phone, email or visiting the website. At this stage the College will request relevant information about the prospective student to decide if the College is appropriate for the student's needs. If it is felt that Parkanaur may be appropriate an initial visit to the College will be arranged to allow the Student/Parent/Social Worker to experience first hand all aspects of the College. If all parties believe the College may be appropriate then a formal application is made in conjunction with the relevant funding body. Once funding has been approved the student is admitted.
