The Sure Start Developmental Programme for 2–3 Year Olds is a government-funded early years programme for children in the year before they start pre-school. To be eligible, a child must meet the following criteria:
• Be registered with their local Sure Start.
• Live within the Sure Start catchment area. (Each Sure Start covers specific ward areas.)
• Be in their pre–pre-school year. This means the child must turn 2 years old on or before 1 July in the year before the Programme begins in September.
If the number of applications is higher than the number of available places, Sure Start may apply additional criteria to prioritise admissions.
