New Life Counselling is a voluntary counselling organisation committed to supporting the emotional health and wellbeing needs of its clients through the provision of counselling and therapeutic services. New Life Counselling provides counselling services for children, young people, adults and families.
The Family Project offers three services :-
Family Therapy - Most families experience serious difficulties sometimes. If it feels like family relationships are suffering, if you are no longer sure what to do for the best or family members seem stuck in repeating patterns of hurtful or harmful behaviour, Family Therapy may help. Family Therapists are trained to work with children, young people, adults, carers and other agencies. We understand the importance of peoples'different beliefs, cultures, contexts and life experiences and will adapt our way of working according to familys members ages, needs, resources and preferences.
Couple Counselling - Couples can get into difficulty for a number of reasons, including conflict in the relationship, parenting difficulties, problems related to extended families, mental health difficulties, loss and seperation and effects of substance misuse. Couple counsellors will explore the difficulties in the relationship taking note of the couple's stage of life and their family including what is happening in their wider circle.
When working with families and couiples our aim is not to take sides or blame. We believe the couple/family has resources for self direction, healing and problem solving and the therapy allows these qualities to emerge and develop.
Family Therapy and Couple Counselling :
Enables people in close relationships to help each other
Builds family understanding and strenghts
Promotes mental health, well being and recovery.
develops individual and family resilience.
Prevents family difficulties escalating into crises.
Family Therapy Clinics are Tuesday 4pm to 8pm and Thursday 4pm to 8pm.
Parent/Child Programmes
The Parent/Child programmes are developed to strenghten the interpersonal relationships in families. Supporting parental skills and confidence in child behaviour management is important in reducing challenging child behaviour and risk of later behaviour problems.
The programmes are fun filled and interactive, designed to develop listening skills, promote helpful behaviours and build routines within families.
