Additional Information
First Steps Crèche is our childcare facility for 12 months - 4 years old, managed by an excellent and long- standing team of staff. The Crèche runs from Monday to Friday 9.15-12.15. We have 2 rooms the 12 months to 2 years and then the 3 to 4 year olds. We are regularly inspected by the NHSCT to ensure we meet and exceed Minimum Standards.
The Family Caring Centre was established in Rathenraw, Antrim in 1985. Its purpose was to provide training, information, advice and Childcare services to families in the area who were suffering from social deprivation as a result of deteriorating housing and high unemployment. The Centre has been successfully providing this support through a range of services which have been continuously developed over the years as a response to the changing needs. Today, over 250 families benefit from the range of services that are currently provided and we hope to celebrate our 35year anniversary in 2020!!
Good Morning Antrim is telephone support and alert service based within the Family Caring Centre and operates Monday to Friday throughout the year. The service, very much supported by Volunteers, is aimed at anyone in the community who feels isolated due to age, physical and/or mental health issues. The daily call will check on the Recipients health & well-being, signpost where necessary and provide the opportunity for friendly chat. If the call goes unanswered and we do not have prior notice of their absence we will ‘alert’ the Recipients ‘Nominated Contact’ who can be a family member, friend or neighbour. With over 10 years’ experience we are well placed to assist in resolving issues, signpost and have many partners within the community and statutory sector. Good Morning Antrim is funded by the Public Health Agency.
Support Group, we provide an Adult Mental Health Support Service, based on core principles of support, acceptance and understanding. Users enjoy activities which build confidence, provide recreation, social interaction and improve health and emotional well-being.
In our ‘Learning Zone’ IT Suite, we offer various ICT Courses including ECDL, Digital Skills and Basic Computer Skills. Accredited and Non-Accredited course are on offer and can be accessed by all abilities. We are registered with The British Computer Society and OCR and with a friendly tutor; learners can work at their own pace.
The Family Caring Centre is also an ‘Umbrella Group’ with Registered Signatories and therefore authorised by Access NI for the processing of applications.
Our premises are also utilised by various external groups including Lifeline and Nexus, where counselling is provided in a non-public, safe environment.
