Additional Information

The aim of these therapeutic communities is to provide a safe, secure and stable environment where patients with a severe mental illness can find a structured setting to engage in communal living with an emphasis on exploring the relationships with themselves and others. The provision of a ‘holding’ and ‘containing’ environment means that patients have an opportunity to experience an understanding environment which helps each individual gain stability in their emotional lives and so help them towards independent living. Threshold’s therapeutic communities are part of the national network of the ‘Association of Therapeutic Communities’ whereby peer reviews involving staff and users, visit other services to ensure quality assurance standards. In all of our peer reviews for the last several years, Threshold has achieved all of the benchmark standards established by the Association of Therapeutic Communities. Clearwater House is a 14 bedded unit situation in North Belfast. This project takes referrals between the ages of 25 - 50 from both the Mater Hospital and community Mental Health Teams.
