Services for Young People: A number of young people who approach us each year come from a care background. We work in partnership with the Health & Social Care Trusts to provide accommodation for young people leaving care to assist some of the most vulnerable people with the transition to adulthood. Community Based Support: Continued support for clients when they move back into the community or for someone in the community who may be at risk of becoming homeless. Rent Deposit Bond Scheme: We can provide a written bond to landlords in lieu of rent advance and/or deposit. Harm Reduction: Aims to reduce harm caused to service users associated with drug and/or alcohol misuse while they are living in a SCNI project and continuing support when they move back into the community. Homeless Prevention Programme: Aims to prevent homelessness by using a coordinated approach to make the most of existing community based resources. We work with local community task groups, we have developed a comprehensive volunteer programme and we work to develop local community Homelessness Prevention resources, in conjunction with other service providers, schools and community/youth groups. We deliver awareness raising talks to any agency/school/community group to inform them of local homelessness issues and the services on offer. Central Access Point: Freephone service open 24/7. Call 0800 171 2222 for general advice, if you are at risk of becoming homeless or if you know someone who is homeless. This number is manned 24 hours a day. Making Moves Ballymena: Making Moves Ballymena aims to help those who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless by providing practical, relevant and immediate support/resources. Information and advice will be available to all service users on; welfare benefits, housing, health and wellbeing, employment, education and training, emergency provisions, floating support, debt and preventing homelessness. Making Moves provides a welcoming, comfortable environment where people can access a wide range of services from a number of public and voluntary organisations situated under one roof. Making Moves Ballymena sessions take place at the NIHE District Office, Mount Street, Ballymena on a weekly basis and there is representation from; Simon Community NI (SCNI), NIHE, Lighthouse hostel, SCNI Harm reduction team, Citizens Advice Bureau, Network Personnel Source, Careers Service NI, Christians Against Poverty, Threshold and Jobs & Benefits.
