Strength 2 Strength is an early intervention community-based programme provided to children, aged 8-13, and their families, who are assessed as being ‘in need’. The programme is a level 2 provision. The programme takes a holistic approach to the family, encouraging healthy development, safety, stability and a positive future. The programme accepts referrals from all community and statutory agencies. Programme content includes focused group work, individual work, educational support, family/ group respite overnights and day trips and parenting support.

HOW DO I ACCESS THIS SERVICE? Referral agents can telephone the Project Manager at the Spencer House office to discuss suitability of the referral before being sent a refer-ral form.

Short Stay Break Service (SSBS) Programme:

The Short Stay Break Service (SSBS)offers respite, safety and support for children and young people aged 7 years old up to and including 17 years old, who are experiencing difficulties, which may be putting them at risk of family and / or placement breakdown who are actively involved with the Western Health and Social Care Trust.

Short Stay Break Service can provide the appropriate support at a time of crisis that can help prevent further deterioration of family and placement relationships. The most vulnerable young people often need a separate safe space to explore their difficulties and work through comping strategies. A Short Stay Break offered at the right time can make the difference between a child entering the care system or their Looked After Placement ending. The Short Stay Break is offered to support children and young people to overcome the temporary difficulties they are experiencing and provide the coping strategies to facilitate healthy relationships and continued living with the family setting.

HOW DO I ACCESS THIS SERVICE? Referral is made by family Social Worker to Trust Gatekeeper. Referrals reviewed by Trust and SSBS manager. Referral social workers in-formed by Trust Gatekeeper re: availably of places.
