Latest Childcare Guidance for Group Settings at 03 February 2021


Updated Department of Health Guidance for Childcare Providers :-


Guidance for Childminders 03 February 2021 (PDF Downloadable)

The changes to this version are at:

1. Paragraph 9, reflecting updates to the process for returning to work, including a link to the digital learning course for childcare providers, which incorporates the latest COVID-19 Guidance;

2. Paragraph 14, to clarify that soft toys or furnishings should not be shared between children;

3. Paragraph 27, to clarify that every positive case of COVID-19 should be reported to the PHA and HSC Trust Early Years Team;

4. Paragraph 34, to include the requirement to inform the HSC Trust Early Years Team of any temporary or permanent closure;

5. Paragraph 43, to ensure that any childminder or assistant who wishes to wear a face covering is supported to do so; and

6. Paragraph 48, providing a link to the latest advice for clinically vulnerable and clinically extremely vulnerable individuals;

1. Paragraph 9, reflecting updates to the process for reopening a setting, including a link to the digital learning course for childcare providers, which incorporates the latest COVID-19 Guidance;

2. Paragraph 16, to allow for babies, subject to prior approval from the HSC Trust Early Years Team, to be cared for along with older children for a period of time;

3. Paragraph 25, to clarify that soft toys or furnishings should not be shared between children;

4. Paragraph 43, to clarify that every positive case of COVID-19 should be reported to the PHA and HSC Trust Early Years Team;

5. Paragraph 57, to ensure that any member of staff who wishes to wear a face covering is supported to do so;

6. Paragraph 62, providing a link to the latest advice for clinically vulnerable and clinically extremely vulnerable individuals; and

7. Paragraph 68, to include the requirement to inform the HSC Trust Early Years Team of any temporary or permanent group or setting closure


Childcare Providers - This guidance will be factored into HSC Trust inspections. Please take time to familiarise yourself with both of the documents, and share them with the parents of all children in your care.  


Please note that this guidance will be updated regularly, so Childcare providers should consult the FSNI website at regular intervals for information and advice.
