PlayBoard NI are committed to developing quality play opportunities that improve children and young people’s lives across Northern Ireland.

It is a membership organisation, which works closely with and provides support to over 1600 member groups.

Play Is Important.    All children are born with a natural drive to play. Play is a vital part of childhood and is necessary for every child’s healthy development and overall well-being. Through play, children are able to develop the skills and abilities they will require as they grow older. Play is a biological, psychological and social necessity that is fundamental to the healthy growth, development and well-being of individuals and communities.

PlayBoard continually works to raise awareness of the importance of play and to enhance children and young people’s access to quality play opportunities across Northern Ireland, and increasingly in the Republic of Ireland.

• Delivering bespoke play training sessions to a range of audiences and organisations including councils, schools, community groups and youth service providers
• Delivering community play programmes which provide children with direct access to quality play activities within their local area
• Delivering focused play enhancement programmes within schools which aim to make better use of school grounds to offer pupils more innovative, creative and active play opportunities
• Supporting the School Age Childcare sector by providing guidance on how play can be enhanced within after-school settings
• Working to influence government policy as it relates to play at NI Executive level
• Developing focused play strategies and play investment plans for councils with a view to better meeting play need for all children and young people.
