Main Services Provided

The Cedar Foundation facilitates the Youth Matters Service, which provides high quality, fun-packed activities and programmes for young people with disabilities up to the age of 18, across the Belfast, South Eastern and Northern Health and Social Care Trusts.

Over the past ten years more than 800 young people within the Belfast and South Eastern Trust areas have enjoyed a wide range of activities and personal development opportunities. The Cedar Foundation has recently extended this service to the Antrim, Ballymena and Glengormley areas.

Youth Matters is an exciting service for young people aged 0 to 18 years, with physical/sensory disabilities, or other health and medical conditions.

The activities are designed around the young people who access the service providing them with opportunities to develop their confidence and self-esteem and to provide social opportunities with the support of the highly trained and experienced youth team.

The friendly Youth Matters Team organise fun-packed days and evenings including Laser Quest, ice-skating, trips to pantomimes, the cinema, making films, travelling abroad on exchange programmes and doing adventure sports.

Personal Development Programmes are available to help those who use the service to learn new skills and achieve OCN accreditation, all whilst having fun. There is also the opportunity to join the Youth Action Team, a dynamic group of young people who advise staff on issues relevant to young people. Free Disability Awareness Training for Youth and Community Organisations, Schools and Universities can also be provided.

If you live within the Belfast South Eastern or Northern Health and Social Care Trusts and would like to access the Youth Matters Service, suggest further activities or find out more information please contact Gillian Boyd by email at or call 02890 461834.
