Main Services Provided

East Belfast Sure Start provides a holistic programme of health, childcare, education and family support for local people. The aim is to coordinate and maximise services for families with children aged 0-3, to enhance parenting skills and provide child development and learning opportunities to ensure children flourish at home and when they get to school.

Childcare services include:
Crawl to Play (Child Development Programme) Templemore Avenue, Nettlefield and Ballyoran (Developmental programme for 2-3 year olds), Play Away (Child Development Programme), Butterflies (Child Development Programme) , Social & Communication (Children with significant social & communication difficulties) Play & Development (Children with significant developmental delays) Stay and Play groups in various locations in the community, Community playgroups, Home visits and parenting programmes, such as COOK IT, Nurture Group, Peer Support Group, Baby Massage, Young Mums Group, Aqua Babes, etc.

Dad's Work project: setting foundation for learning and development for males in children's life, encouraging them in parenting role with lots of fun activities.

Additional Needs Support: for families to access support and services which include play groups, child development programmes, parents support, sensory lending scheme and much more.

Community Midwife: to provide support to parents to be, new parents and new born babies. Services include, baby massage, breast feeding support: Butterflies breastfeeding group (Woodstock Library -Thursdays 1.00-3.00pm), mellow bumps, bump to baby cafe, antenatal groups, etc.

Speech and language: ensuring children get the support they need as early as possible to improve their speech, language and communication skills and improve the foundation for all future learning.
