Main Services Provided

Back in November 2012, Oasis Caring in Action had the exciting opportunity to extend its work into the town of Antrim. By securing funding, we were able to open a brand new centre located right on the High Street in the town centre. This centre was designed to accommodate our first Antrim project called the Youth Ways Project which aims to support young people with their education.

Our work is already looking to grow here in Antrim with the possibility of opening the centre up in the evenings to provide for the needs of more of the young people within the town. Oasis’s heart for its outreach in Antrim is to eventually reach out into different areas of need within the local community to provide support in the same way that Oasis Belfast has already been able to do within its own area of East Belfast.

We eventually hope to provide support not just to young people but across a greater range of the community to help with areas such as unemployment and mental health.

Oasis Antrim in partnership with Youth Justice and funded by Assets recovery agency have designed and delivered a pilot programme aimed at young people who are in the justice system or are in real danger of becoming so. The programme worked with 3 different groups of young people, used various youth work methodologies in the delivery of this. 24 young people participated in the programme and all gained OCN qualifications in confidence building.

With the help of the Hope Centre in Ballymena, we have a Drugs and Alcohol Advice Surgery, which provides advice and support to people who are struggling with substance abuse and their families.

Oasis Antrim, in partnership with NI Youth Forum and funded by Antrim PCSP, are currently working with three groups of young people. The groups have been recruited from the town centre, Rathenraw and Greystones areas of Antrim. They have all undertaken some Community Relations training, and participated in a three month Personal Development Programme.
