Main Services Provided

Carers Trust is a major new charity for, with and about carers. We work to improve support, services and recognition for anyone living with the challenges of caring, unpaid, for a family member or friend who is ill, frail, disabled or has mental health or addiction problems.

We do this with Network Partners. Together we are united by a shared vision for carers

– to make sure that information, advice and practical support are available to all carers across the UK.

Many carers often feel isolated and lonely as a result of their caring responsibilities. In addition many are unable to socialise or make use of “Me Time” to recharge their batteries.

Many carers in Northern Ireland do not realise that they can access help and that it is alright to seek out that support.

Carers Trust in collaboration with the Confederation of Community groups through the Mind the Gap Programme (funded by the Big Lottery Reaching Out Supporting Older People Programme) runs the Good Day Good Carer scheme which is a voluntary telephone support service run by carers for carers.

The service is available to older carers throughout Northern Ireland who:
Would value some ongoing support and a listening ear
Need information and advice
Would like to be signposted to support services.

It offers carers:
a confidential telephone support service tailored to the carers needs and delivered by trained volunteers and/or
a visit from a carer support worker if requested
a regular telephone call at your convenience just to see how you are!

Good Day Good Carer can help in many ways through its experienced network of support workers and partners.

This might be by providing a listening ear, helping to make sure you are getting all the benefits you are entitled to or accessing information to support you in your caring role or by offering you information and advice on respite breaks, , aids and adaptations, housing matters , health and wellbeing matters or giving you details of forthcoming events being run by Carers Trust or indeed any of our partners.

The Good Day Good Carer service can also signpost you to specific partners who may be able to help you such AgeNI, Alhzeimers Society, MacMillan Cancer Support Parkinsons NI, the Carers Coordinators in each of the Trust areas and to Carers Trusts two network partner carers centres in Belfast and Newry.
