Main Services Provided

Genito-urinary medicine (GUM) clinics, also known as Sexual health clinics, provide tests for sexually transmitted infections such as:

Genital Warts

Confidentiality is a fundamental component of working in the clinic.

Our staff are professionally trained in dealing with all sexual health problems and providing advice, education and information to patients, their family/friends and outside agencies.

Young people are very welcome to attend our clinic, it is not necessary to bring a parent or adult with you, but it can be helpful if you are under 16 yrs old.

We do not routinely disclose your visit to a parent or your GP.

How to access this service

There are two ways to make an appointment:

1) Contact the clinic directly on (028) 9063 4050. between 9.00am and 12 Noon,
non-urgent appointments will be allocated one week in advance.

Requests for emergency appointments will be allocated on a clinical need.

Currently the demand on our appointment telephone line is extremely high, please listen to each option and follow the instructions.

2) Talk to your GP - they can make a referral and get an appointment for you
Your appointment will either be with a doctor or Specialist Nurse.

Appointments are offered on the following days:
Monday - Morning and Afternoon
Tuesday - Afternoon Only
Wednesday - Morning and Afternoon
Thursday - Morning Only
Friday - Morning and Afternoon

Newly diagnosed HIV patients wishing to register for care, or HIV patients who wish to transfer their care to our service please contact the clinic after 1.00pm on Telephone numbers (028) 9063 6477 or (028) 9063 6483.

The demand on our service is high. If you are unable to keep your appointment please notify us as soon as possible so we can reschedule your appointment.

Please note. The clinic is closed on weekends and bank holidays.

What to do before you come to your appointment : -

It would be helpful if you did not pass urine for 2 hours (male) and 1 hour (female) before coming to your appointment.

Clinic Location and contact details :-

The clinic is situated on Level 3 of the Outpatients Centre on the Royal Hospitals site (accessed from the Falls road).

Access is also available via the main hospital following the directions for level 3 Outpatients Department.
