Main Services Provided

Barnardos NI works for children first and last. In over 100 years we have helped improve the lives and opportunities of tens of thousands of children in communities across Northern Ireland. We work wherever children need us most.

Barnardos first project in Northern Ireland was a soup kitchen in Great Victoria Street, Belfast 1899 and although Barnardos has gone through many changes over the years our work is still firmly based on the philosophy of our founder Dr Thomas Barnardo, that every child deserves the best possible start in life whatever their background.

Our range of work today includes counselling, fostering and respite care. We work with: young carers, children of prisoners, young people vulnerable to sexual exploitation, ethnic minority families, families where there is domestic violence, addiction or mental health issues and children who have been bereaved.

We also champion childrens rights bringing vital issues to the attention of the public and the Northern Ireland Executive.

In over 100 years we have helped improve the lives and opportunities of tens of thousands of children across Northern Ireland we work wherever children need us. Barnardos NI is there for children first and last.
